Studio Policies and Terms of Service

  • Cancellations

    • We require 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a single day class for a studio credit. If required notice is given, you will receive a gift card to partake in a future class of equal value. You will not receive priority in future classes due to having a credit. If 48 hours notice is not given, you will not receive a gift card and no refunds will be issued.

    • We require 5 business days notice to cancel your spot in a multi-day course. If required notice is given, you will receive a gift card to partake in a future course of equal value. You will not receive priority in future classes due to having a credit. If 5 business days notice is not given, you will not receive a gift cards and no refunds will be issued. No refunds or gift cards will be issued for withdrawals from courses that have already started.

    • This includes absences or cancelations due to unexpected events or personal circumstances such as illness including COVID-19. We still require 48 hours notice for single day classes and 5 business days for multi-day courses.

    • There will be no refunds or gift cards for no-shows.

    • If you need to cancel within 48 hours for a single day class or within 5 business days of a multi-day course and you have found someone to take your place in the class, the fee will transfer to them. The new attendee is required to fit the criteria of the class that has been registered for. Payment in full is required from the other individual, in the other individual’s name, before any refunds are issued to the initial purchaser.

    • The resale of class spots is not permitted. The attendee must be the person who registered for the class and filled out the waiver upon checkout. If you would like to gift a class, please purchase a gift card.

    • There will be no make-up or refunds for missed classes. This goes for single day and multi-day courses. Please assure you’re available for all class dates before registering.

In this event, full payment will be refunded, however you will also have the option to receive a gift card.

    Breakage

    • Although all care is taken to ensure the work gets to the kiln and back to you in one piece, Stuck in the Mud takes no responsibility for any breakages during the drying and firing process or any explosions in the kiln. Pottery is an art but also a very humbling craft, and takes years of practice. Do not be disheartened if your work does not make it. Even the most experienced potters have issues with firing. You are here for the experience and to learn.

    Items

    • Not being happy with your work or ceramic abilities is not grounds for a refund. Not everyone learns at the same level, and rarely does anyone pick-up the craft right away. Learning is a process and again, you’re here for the experience, not the final product.

    • A refund is not permitted for pieces that have been disposed of or sold after having not been picked up by notified clients in the timeframe given in the pick-up notification email. You may arrange to have your items picked up at a time convenient for you.

    • Leaving items after classes/courses without names or proper labels and those items being disposed of is not grounds for a refund.

Please just don’t be a dickhead.

Stuck in the Mud reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who creates an unsafe environment for its employees. If any employee at Stuck in the Mud is not comfortable providing services to a particular individual, they retain the right to decline their request.

  • If you would like to gift someone a class, you must purchase them a gift card. The class must then be purchased and registered for by the gift card holder.

  • We do not offer kiln rental services.

  • All communication will be done so through email.

The studio does not have a phone as it is very difficult and inconvenient to have to answer one with hands covered in clay. I am also the owner/instructor/administrator/only person here and have specified hours set aside to correspond and take on my administrative tasks.

As mentioned above, if you send an email to cancel your place in a class or reschedule and have notified in the time frame required, the date and time the email was sent will absolutely be honoured even if it hasn’t received a response right away.

Emails asking when items will be ready will not be answered.
